History

In the Fall of 1995, the Villa Montessori Center opened its doors as an Early Childhood Center for children ages three (3) to five (5) years old. Housed in a renovated bank building on the corner of East 55th Street and Broadway Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, the innovative curriculum of the Montessori Method of education was chosen to effectively help meet the academic needs of the youngest child. The beliefs and values of the Center are actualized by the staff's commitment to empowering these very young students, with a strong value-based academic foundation.

We believe that learning is a life-long journey of achievement and experiences to assist all students in reaching their potential and to "give-back" to the community. Involvement in the local civic community is also important to the values of the Villa Montessori Center. Parents and families are encouraged to support civic agencies, events, and challenges that enhance the lives of the people in the community, such as "Safety Walks", "City Fresh Start", Music & the Arts, local festival and private campaigns.

Since the 1995-1996 school year, nearly fifty (50) students each year have experienced this outstanding inner-city Montessori program. Parents have been involved in learning about this method of education and how it can positively effect their child and their varied ways of learning. The faculty is certified in the Montessori method of education from the American Montessori Society Accreditation and the Association of Montessori International.

As a not-for-profit agency, this private Catholic Christian environment provides alternative financial options for the family's tuition and fees, especially those who struggle economically. Over the past twelve (12) years, fundraising, donor contributions and annual giving have provided Scholarships for students to attend the Villa Montessori Center.
